Educational material relating to issues in pain treatment that serve as barriers to optimum pain control and diminish the quality of life will be found on this website. Hopefully, this material will assist physicians, and other health care providers, to better understand the practical as well as the ethical and moral issues facing those who treat pain patients.
Educational material relating to pain treatment modalities per se will not be a major component of this website. There is ample educational material already readily available that addresses drug, interventional, psychosocial, alternative, and spiritual modalities for treating pain. Advances in pain treatment will be highlighted as they occur.
The educational material presented here will address moral and ethical dilemmas physicians, and other health care providers, must resolve in their day-to-day care of difficult pain patients. Additionally, educational material about the consequences of action taken by regulatory and law enforcement authorities that affect the care of pain patients will be presented.
